Day 31 – Christchurch

I woke up at 4.30am and after a quick bus journey and train (managing to save also 15$ because there were no control at the gates) I arrived at the airport. It was pretty empty, so I decided to have a walk around in the duty free without buying anything. The flight was very comfortable and I managed to sleep pretty much during the entire journey. I arrived at Christchurch around 15.30 and the hostel seemed very nice. There were not many people and I was the only one in my dorm having the kitchen and the bathroom all for myself. I went around Christchurch and I love it. Such a small town which reminds me home... a little miniature of an English town, so green, full of parks and full of very friendly people. The town is lovely and full of colours; it is much better than what I expected.
It is sunny but it is a little bit cold due to a northern breeze. I went to the local museum learning a little bit about the Maori and their traditions, understanding the stories of the first settlers and reading few adventures of the first men who attempted to reach the South Pole.
Tomorrow they will come and pick me up here at 7.30am (quite late for what I am used to now!), and my journey around the land of the Lord of the Rings will begin.
Looking forward to it!
TWIMO!
